Description: Medium bodied. Capsicum, cigar box and redskins on the nose. The palate had rich, sweet blackcurrant fruit with good acid, soft tannin and green, stalky characters. A varietal, cool climate Cabernet that is drinking well and should improve over 5 years.

Canadian Wine 221 823.Icewines from Riesling are best for long-term cellaring. A leader is Henry of Pelhams 2003 version that starts with a buttery apple pie nose followed by a lusciously sweet palate of cooked juicy apple, citrus, and butterscotch. Will develop complexity with age. 824.Icewines from Cabernet Franc are made but I wouldnt recommend them over the whites because they tend to be onedimensional wines reminiscent of candy apples. 825.Leading producers of Icewine include Henry of Pelham Family Estate Winery, Inniskillin, and Jackson-Triggs. 826.Canada also produces a lot of fruit wine, which is essentially wine made from fruit other than grapes. This drink is rarely exported, usually sweet though can be dry or offdry, and must be drank as young as possible as it doesnt improve with age. Blossom Winery in British Columbia makes some fairly good ones.
