fruit with a characteristic smoky, savory quality. 403.St. Pray produces white still and sparkling wines from Marsanne and Roussanne grapes. Cave de Tains Saint Pray is a playful fawn of wine with aromas of delicate white flowers, bright citrus zest, white peach, and vanilla. 404.Red wines from the northern Rhne are smoother than ever before because many producers are destemming the grapes before pressing them and replacing older barrels with new oak. 116 1000 BEST WINE SECRETS 405.Wines from the southern Rhne are mainly red and generally blended wines with a high proportion of fruity Grenache seasoned with other grapes, including Carignan, Cinsault, Mourvdre, and Syrah. These wines contrast sharply with the single-variety Syrah heavyweights of the northern Rhne. 406.You know a wine is from the southern Rhne when any of the following names appear on the label: Ctes du Rhne, Ctes du Rhne-Villages, Ctes du Rhne-Villages with a village name appended (such as Rasteau), Chteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Lirac, Tavel, or Vacqueyras. 407.Perrin & Fils wine from Rasteau is consistently appealing.
